New York City Clubs
New York City has always been home to the most exclusive nightclubs in the world. While many decline to stand behind the velvet rope, others eagerly line up to get a look at incoming celebrities who often frequent these hot nightspots or in the hopes of getting into one of the clubs.
Tips for getting into a hot New York club vary, but if you are a celebrity, you don't have to worry; you'll go right in. The rest of society has to be very attractive and preferable female, very dressed, barely dressed or oddly dressed. The clubs are usually packed on weekends and the line to get in can be long. One trick that usually works is to go to the front of the line and hand the doorman a wad of bills. That will usually get you into the club as green is a color always in style.
Young people sometimes have more fun chatting with others in line and usually don't mind spending hours on their feet. If they are fortunate enough to get the nod from the doorman, they can tell their friends that they "made it."
Once inside the club, you should make as many friends with those who work there as possible, tipping the bartenders and cocktail waitresses generously. Get to know their names and make some connection so you won't have to wait so long the next time you decide to pay a visit.
Hot clubs come and go in New York City frequently. What is "hot" one month may be dead a month later. One of the current Hottest Clubs in New York City is Pacha. Located at 618 W. 46th Street in Midtown Manhattan, this European dance club features a loud, ultra-modern, European dance beat in 30,000 square feet of space. Celebrities get a special entrance and VIP room, and the rest of the 2,000 nightly partygoers dance to a variety of International D.J. spin house music. Unlike many of the other clubs, Pacha has been a popular dance club for over a decade and is known throughout the club scene as the best Euro super club in the United States.
Studio Mezmor is another hot dance club located in Midtown, Manhattan at 530 W. 28th Street. Studio Mezmor was once home to another hot club, Crobar, but has been rejuvenated and is attracting celebrities and socialites such as Paris Hilton and P. Diddy with their special VIP room and ultra-hip D.J. spun dance music. The club is ultra modern, features a space-like tunnel entrance and, like most clubs, has a cover charge. Studio Mezmor features three rooms of dancing, each containing different music, mostly hip-hop. It's loud and fun for a night of dancing and entertainment.
If you are up for a true challenge, you can try Marquee, located in the Chelsea neighborhood close to Greenwich Village at 289 10th Avenue. The club is strictly "guest list only." And has several levels, including a main room with glass beads, a downstairs "red room" with softer music, and an upstairs "glass enclosed" VIP lounge with a private bar. This is one of the favorite haunts of Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton, which may be a reason to try to get in or to stay away, depending upon your taste. Your best chance of getting into the club is to go early on a weeknight and be dressed in style.
Other popular nightspots in New York City include APT, also in Chelsea at 419 W. 13th Street. The club resembles a high-end apartment look, unlike the other ultra-modern super clubs. APT attracts celebrities but is not invitation only, so there is a chance to get in. You will want to dress elegantly for this club, that, like most, features D.J. spin music. Unlike many of the other dance clubs, APT has no cover charge.
Go to Lotus at 409 W. 14th Street before 10 p.m. dressed appropriately and you have an excellent chance of getting inside. Lotus is more low-key and actually offers a dinner menu. Your best chance of remaining in the club is to go for dinner, which features a variety of American food, and stay for the late-night action.
Club-Hopping in New York City is one of the most exciting things to do for the young and young at heart. Getting into an exclusive club can be done for those up for a challenge and a night of dancing.
